The union of Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires, both prominent figures in country and Americana music, has come to its end.
According to court records reviewed by Rolling Stone, Isbell filed for divorce from Shires after nearly 11 years of marriage on December 15, 2023.
Isbell, known as a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter leading his band, the 400 Unit, has been a significant presence in the music scene for the past decade.
Shires, on the other hand, is a respected solo artist, a member of the Highwomen supergroup, and has occasionally performed with Isbell’s band.
Their recent success was evident at the Grammy Awards, where Isbell and the 400 Unit clinched two Grammys, including the Best Americana Album for their latest release, Weathervanes.
Despite this, representatives for Isbell and Shires have yet to respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
Their journey together spans over two decades. Isbell first noticed Shires in 2003 while she was playing the fiddle in Billy Joe Shaver’s band.
A year later, they officially met, with Shires already part of the Thriftstore Cowgirls and Isbell making waves with Drive-By Truckers.
